BAMBI Members,
Welcome to the May edition of BAMBI News. I have been writing this section for one year already, and still, the moment catches me by surprise and in despair. Just kidding!
Although we usually mark Mother’s Day in Thailand in August, many other countries around the world celebrate it in May.
So, Happy Mother’s Day! For you, whether you are a mother, or you are thinking about becoming/wishing you were a mother, please take a moment to acknowledge to yourself how awesome you are.
For the BAMBI Committee, May is also a busy month, as we get ready for another Yard Sale. After the complexity of the 30th Anniversary, I have a feeling that this event will feel like a walk in the park for the BAMBI Events Coordinator, and the rest of us. Also it marks the moment that we all go through our closets, and check if this is the time to clear out what’s in storage and sell what we no longer need. I think I will be the first to sign up for a table this time.
If you don’t see me selling my stuff, it will only be because I decided to give it all to BAMBI Charities, and make someone else happy. I adore the Yard Sales for the Community. You can sell what you don’t need anymore, and make someone else happy, or you can just give out to BAMBI Charities. Then the Charities Team will make sure that everything goes to people who need help, or they will sell the goods and donate the income to the next project. Also if your children are a bit older, it may be a good idea to get them involved in the sales. That’s something that a Former Committee member – Zamela Elkholi (Events Assistant) – taught me
when she suggested her children sell their old toys in order to buy new ones: they were the ones to do the bargaining!
I hope you enjoy the heat of the sales, and the heat of the weather.
Be Well,
Eleni Petraki
